Requirements
Minimum requirement:

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

Experience:

  • Appropriate experience within a health workshop environment.

Inherent requirements of the job:

  • Must be prepared to work overtime.
  • Capability to do strenuous physical labour.
  • A valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence.
  • Perform relief duties where required.

Competencies (knowledge/skills):

  • Ability to optimally utilise allocated resources such as materials, tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of the application of the requirements of the Machinery and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

Duties (key result areas/outputs):

  • Complete and efficient execution of instructions which include, amongst other, general maintenance.
  • Assist with engineering projects, maintenance and repairs, installations and alterations.
  • Strict adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Assist Handymen and Artisans in the performance of their duties.
  • Exercise control over tools, equipment and materials.
